Scabilite
Scabilite aims to significantly reduce treatment failure rates for scabies, the most common parasitic skin infestation globally. With an estimated annual incidence of 622.5 million new cases, a point prevalence of 206.6 million, and 5.3 million disability-adjusted life-years (GBD 2021), scabies is classified by the WHO as a neglected tropical disease. Disease burden is highest in the Asia-Pacific region, where prevalence and reinfection rates remain particularly severe. Current topical treatments suffer from high recurrence rates that existing products do not address. Our innovation repurposes small molecule compounds already used in other conditions, incorporating them as proprietary excipients into anti-scabies therapy to directly mitigate the leading causes of treatment failure without requiring new active ingredients. This repurposing approach leverages known safety profiles and existing manufacturing knowledge, dramatically reducing development risk.
By repurposing established compounds and building on proven APIs through regulatory-abbreviated pathways, we dramatically reduce the cost, risk, and timeline of bringing this therapy to market compared to novel molecule development. The technology platform is extensible to other topical dermatological and parasitic skin conditions, representing a broader pipeline opportunity.
